What are loyalty points?
Loyalty points are rewards you can optionally award to your customers for their purchases. Your customers can then redeem these points for a cash value at your business. For example, you may offer loyalty points at a rate of 2% for the total purchased. After $100 in purchases, the customer will have accrued $2 to spend at your business.
Accruing points
Customers accrue loyalty points based on the dollar amounts they spend. Customer types (set up on the Customer Defaults window) can be set up with a loyalty rate. This automatically calculates the loyalty points value for dollars spent. For example, if you set up a loyalty rate for 0.1000, customers who are part of a loyalty program automatically receive a points value of 10% of their total purchase added to their account.
Points may also be added to an account by adding them directly on the Adjust Loyalty Points window. A simple report is generated for a points adjustment with the current points balance and the adjustment made. The transaction is recorded as an adjustment.
Redeeming points
Points are redeemed either at the point of sale or they can be redeemed manually on the Redeem Loyalty Points window. A simple report is generated for a points redemption with the current points balance and the number of points redeemed. The transaction is recorded as a redemption.
Adjusting points
In the event that a customer's points balance needs to be adjusted up or down, perhaps the customer won a contest resulting in bonus points, you can access the Adjust Loyalty Points window and enter a positive or negative points adjustment value. A simple report is generated for a points adjustment with the current balance and the adjustment made. The transaction is recorded as an adjustment.
Removing points
You may need to remove all accrued points from all customer accounts. Perhaps you choose to expired accrued points. In this type of situation, you can access the Remove Loyalty Points window to complete this.
